Monin of the Month: Vanilla Syrup Is Our August Pick

Monin of the month

With over 100 Monin flavours in the range, choosing just one syrup to stock behind the bar can feel impossible. That’s exactly why we’re launching Monin of the Month — a new monthly feature where we spotlight one Monin syrup, share how your bar or coffee shop can put it to work, and make sure it’s always in stock and ready to order. We love Monin as much as you do, so we thought it was time to give a different flavour its moment each month.

Kicking things off is a syrup that needs very little introduction: Monin Vanilla Syrup 70cl.

What Is Monin Vanilla Syrup?

Monin Vanilla Syrup is one of Monin’s most popular syrups worldwide, and a genuine staple across cocktail bars and coffee shops alike. Made with natural vanilla flavouring and Monin’s signature pure cane sugar base, it delivers a smooth, rounded sweetness with warm, authentic vanilla notes — no artificial aftertaste, no faff.

At £7.49 for a 70cl bottle, it’s an easy addition to any back bar or coffee station, and one bottle goes a long way across both food and drink menus.

Why Vanilla Syrup Belongs in Every Scottish Bar & Coffee Shop

Vanilla is one of those flavours that never goes out of fashion. It’s the syrup your baristas will use every single day for lattes and flat whites, and the syrup your bar team will reach for to round out spirit-forward cocktails without overpowering them. If you’re only stocking one Monin flavour this month, vanilla is the one that works hardest across the widest range of drinks — which is exactly why it’s our first Monin of the Month.

Here are two ways to put this month’s syrup to use — one for the bar, one for the coffee counter.

Cocktail Recipe: Vanilla Old Fashioned

Coffee Recipe: Iced Vanilla Latte

  3. Pull a double espresso shot and pour over the ice.
  4. Top with milk and stir well before serving.

Trade Tips: Storing & Using Monin Vanilla Syrup

Monin syrups have a long shelf life once opened, but a few habits keep quality consistent behind the bar:

  • Store bottles at room temperature, away from direct sunlight.
  • Use a dedicated pourer to keep dosing consistent across your team.
  • Wipe the bottle neck after each use to prevent stickiness and cross-contamination between flavours.
  • Once opened, Monin syrups are best used within a few months for the freshest flavour.
